Stories that travel between East and West
Beyond the cozy capybara, CapyFun is a home for culture: classical poetry, festivals and folklore, film history, and the stories that carry them across languages. We create, adapt and publish books that let readers everywhere slow down and look a little closer.
Stories rooted in Chinese culture
Born and raised in Hefei, China, Helen H. Wu writes picture books that carry Chinese food, festivals and folklore to young readers around the world, so children can see both the differences and the connections between cultures.
Tofu Takes Time
Lin and her grandma, NaiNai, make tofu from scratch, and Lin learns that the best things take time.
Long Goes to Dragon School
At a school where dragons breathe fire, Long from the East can only breathe water, and must find his own way to shine. Northern Lights Book Award winner.
Ping's Perfect Pot
Ping shapes a clay pot for the family's Lunar New Year tangerine tree, and learns that things made with love are perfect in their own way.
LEGO® Fantastic Tales of Dragons
Helen retells the legend of Yinglong, the Chinese dragon, in this collection of dragon tales from around the world.
Dragons, festivals and folklore. Capy's world grows from these traditions too, from our Dragon Collection to a new chapter-book series set during a lantern-lit dragon parade festival, now in development.
Slow Days with Capy: Classical Chinese Poetry
A bilingual gift book pairing classical Chinese poems of idleness and landscape (闲适 · 山水) with ink-wash capybara illustrations. Each poem is newly translated by Helen H. Wu and introduced with the story behind it, for readers meeting these poets for the first time.
Film, television and the art of storytelling
Stories on screen shape how cultures see one another. CapyFun publishes books that celebrate the people and productions behind them, and makes original animation of its own.
Silver Screen Dreams
The story of Anna May Wong, Hollywood's first Chinese American movie star, who kept dreaming in an industry that rarely made room for her.
Film & TV Culture Books
A focused list of one to two titles a year: English-language visual companions and art books that bring the worlds, costumes and craft of acclaimed Chinese film and television to international audiences.
Capy Days
Our 2D animated series about everyday life on Earth, told mostly through action, music and expression, so it travels across languages. Watch on YouTube

Why the world fell for the capybara
Calm, sociable and famously unbothered, the capybara has become a symbol of a gentler way to live. Capy and friends began as stories about small, ordinary joys, and grew into characters people share every day as stickers, books, clothing and animation.
In the CapyFun world, Capy and friends come from a faraway land called Capyzenia, here to experience life on Earth one cozy moment at a time. Our books explore that unhurried spirit, from self-care to a new picture book on the comfort of what we wear.
